History of the Constantinato

The existence of Constantinato-Coin pendant dates back to the Byzantine era.

According to the first religious tradition when Constantine the Great and Saint Helen found the Holy Cross, they cut it into pieces and distributed its pieces to monasteries and convents. They then collected the sawdust and shavings from this cutting and gave them to a goldsmith in Constantinople to make an amulet for the childrens.
According to the second version, the shavings from the cutting of the Holy Cross were collected for the purpose of making imperial coins.

The Constantinato took its name from the Emperor, and depicted on one side Constantine and Helen and on the other the cross and "Jesus Christ Victory" (IHNK).
In the course of time, it acquired other interpretations, with historical references speaking of its healing properties or others even referring to its positive contribution on the battlefield!

Constantinato is a talisman-jewel with a long significance for Christian history and Greek tradition, and rightly holds a special place in our consciousness.
